1. CAG Flags Major Gaps in Green India Mission

Why in News?

The Comptroller and Auditor General flagged inadequate funding, weak convergence with other schemes, poor monitoring and large shortfalls in the National Mission for a Green India. The audit covered interventions in 16 States and Union Territories from 2015-16 to 2024-25.

2. Centre Opposes Creamy Layer Exclusion for SC/ST Quotas

Why in News?

The Union government reiterated before the Supreme Court that the creamy-layer principle applicable to Other Backward Classes should not be extended to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservations. The issue has returned after the 2024 Davinder Singh judgment on sub-classification within SC/ST lists.
