1. Local Body Reservation & 50% Ceiling
Why in News?
The Andhra Pradesh High Court set aside government orders providing 34% reservation for Backward Classes in Panchayat Raj Institutions and 33.33% reservation in Urban Local Bodies, holding that the arrangement exceeded the 50% threshold referred to by the Court.

2. Supreme Court on Unpaid E-Challans
Why in News?
The Supreme Court directed States and Union Territories to restrict several online and vehicle-related services for motorists with outstanding traffic fines. Vehicles with unpaid e-challans are to be blacklisted on the Central Parivahan portal until dues are cleared.

4. GST Revenue Crosses ₹2 Lakh Crore

India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue reached ₹2.03 lakh crore in September 2026, recording a year-on-year increase of 14.7%.

5. Manufacturing PMI Rises to 55.1

India’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to a seven-month high of 55.1 in September 2026, up from 52.8 in August.
