The total quantum was reported at approximately 7.8 tmc ft. Karnataka cited drought conditions, while Tamil Nadu argued that delayed releases would affect Samba cultivation.

The State urged the Centre to avoid the Open-Column Method, under which respondents can self-declare caste names, and instead use predefined notified lists for enumeration.
