1. SIR 3.0: More Than 1.5 Crore Names Deleted from Electoral Rolls

More than 1.5 crore names have been deleted from existing voter lists during the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Draft rolls have been published in several States and Union Territories, while claims and objections remain open before publication of final rolls.

2. U.S. Senate Bill and 100% Tariff Threat over Russian Oil Imports

The U.S. Senate passed the Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, which could expose major importers of Russian crude oil and natural gas to tariffs of up to 100% if the legislation also clears the House of Representatives and becomes law.
