Why in News?

The Supreme Court set aside 27 Gauhati High Court judgments declaring individuals as foreigners and directed the Foreigners’ Tribunals to conduct fresh adjudication through a fair, lawful and reasoned process.

2. Retail Inflation Rises Above RBI Target to 4.4%

Why in News?

India’s retail inflation increased to 4.4% in June 2026, crossing the Reserve Bank of India’s medium-term inflation target. Food inflation reached 5.05%, while transport inflation also rose because of higher fuel prices.
